Comatose

Cold memories drenched in the dark of life,
As I strolled past the memories from midnight,
Veiled desires kissed me numb
As I lay seething at the altar of love

Curses of past like barbed wires,
Cobwebs of dreams that were never set on fire,
Visions of ruins that were once sublime
Lay emblazoned in the memoirs of time

Halt!Or thou shalt die.

Imagine what would happen if you were to get house-arrested for no apparent reason? One fine day you wake up to see that you are under house-arrest and you have to take permission from the not so friendly Men in Uniform even to move around in your own house.
This is what is happening to the Kashmiris.Their heaven is under seige.Their land has always been an innocent bait in the dirty game played between India and Pakistan.Kashmir has been wronged since the time of Indipendence when the then King of Kashmir gave away his state to Delhi without even knowing the wishes of his subjects.Kashmir has been ambushed ever since. The state has been plagued by one atrocity after another. Her dwellers always been depicted being on the wrong side of law.Their cry for freedom slammed as an unjust cry for war.
So today when I switched on my T.V and saw yet another innocent Kashmiri being reportedly killed by the Indian Army because he didn't stop when he was asked to,I didn't bat an eyelid.I like my other non-kashmiri counterpart would have termed it as another routine encounter killing. But what unnerved me was that the Chief of Army was unbashedly lying infront of the camera when he was asked the reason of the killing. When asked the reason of that man's plight,he calmly remarked that he should have stopped when ordered to and that the army men didn't intend on killing him,and he was shot in the legs.Surprisingly,he knew nothing of the medical report of his death ,that clearly states that both his legs and back were severely injured.
We praise ourselves of being a democratic and sovereign country;we take pride in our solidarity and our so called secular mindset. But then why and how can we sit back and sadistically enjoy the atrocities being carried upon in the place which we so vociferously call as our own ?
We praise the people of Egypt for standing for their rights. Our government solemnly swears to be by their side .But then why wasn't our government encouraging the kashmiris when they were fighting for justice ?Why such prejudice ?

Dearth of an idea

One can suffer from the perils of numerous forms of poverty ,but what according to me is one of the most tenacious of all, is the poverty of ideas.
Ideas that should be the harbingers of change; ideas that should enable people to act; ideas that can unite people are sadly given up ; Ideas that are looked away from, even when they are just round the corner in the grey alleys of our mind, patiently waiting for us to hear them out. And so, in order to enhance my thought–process a little more, I tried to analyze the factors that lead us to give up on our wonderful ideas.
One of the answers lies in our will-do-later attitude. And I can confidently say that most of us have come across this omnipotent, omnipresent bug.As all bad things are, to say the least, tempting to a t, our bug is no different. It is way more alluring than our facebook accounts, which we solemnly use everyday to cheat on our partners. As for me,I have seen this bug’s exploits everywhere, from this country’s crippling socio-political system to the student whiling away the precious hours of his life in chatting and facebooking(I belonged to that group untill recently ,but then my pathetic performance in an entrance exam forced my good sense to intervene). Our bug's dexterity is most conspicuous at the parliament where the ideas that run our country are brought alive but hardly without the help of this bug. Be it the issue of our country’s crumbling safety and security, or rising prices of essential commodities from onion to petrol via tomato ,all add laurels to its resume.
Wish if we could only take cue from the bug itself, that works meticulously every moment towards making sure that we are devoid of ideas.

The Premonition

"Dreams are the only place where the pragmatic realism of one's mind doesn't work." This is what I used to believe in until that chilly, morose January morning when I woke up covered in sweat and my eyes still bearing the aftermath of what I had witnessed only a few moments ago.
That outrageously macabre dream was so bizarre that even Freud himself must have had doubts about his psychoanalysis theories, had he experienced what I did.
But the world has changed since Freud. Gone are the days when the world was exasperated by his theories on Incest, these days the world pledges to be patient and receiving to every entity who decides to go against the tide.
Be it the iron willed Julian Assange or the brave-hearted Irom Sharmila.
So anyway without beating around the bush anymore, I will straight away narrate my unusual dream to you.

The Dream

It was one of those flying dreams. I was flying and yet without wings defying the hefty pull of gravity. And no, I did not have a broom stick to match harry Potter's.
I was flying over a verdant stretch. I did not know where I was, it seemed a place nicely carved out from the pictures of great forests - and considering the rate at which trees are cut in India to make way for concrete jungles, it could only have been the pictures of the real jungles from which my dream drew its inspiration. So I was flying atop the greenery of lovely forests, snowy mountains and green farms.
Just when I had crossed the dwindling yet ample stretch of healthy vegetation and was about to enter the threshold of civilization, I saw 'it.'
That ethereal yet ubiquitous, down-to-earth (quite literally) yet authoritarian, many layered Onion heading a vegetables only meeting !So I after being in a fix over the tuff between my nervousness and curiosity ,decided to let the latter get the better of the two. I lowered myself on an impoverished tree. I learned that even the vegetables were alarmed by the 'exclusive' category bestowed upon the modest Onion. They were a little aggravated by this partiality shown towards their compatriot.
And the Onion was doing but some damage control by telling them that this price-rise was about to change the way the vegetables will be looked upon in the future. That they will be cherished by the humans residing in the developing countries in near future, just the way they cherish their Gold and Silver. And though this supply-demand labyrinth was the outcome of human (read Human policy-maker's)inexperience, the vegetables are to be benefitted hugely in the long run. The humans who are so conceitedly blindfolded by their complacency would soon be seen as doing the nature's bidding.
And it was over! Much like a movie that gives us enough food for thought, but never the solution. I don't know if the dream was conjured from the realm of my rationale, or was it just a premonition of the happenings in our not so far away future.

Wishful Thinking

I was spellbound after reading a certain post in the Dawn Newspaper. It was about a skinny little moon that formed the backdrop of the childhood memories of the writer. How he missed that innocent little moon of his childhood. The moon when it was still unfazed by the happenings on his dear Earth. After reading it even I started thinking about that moon of my younger years. Just like he was, after seeing that skinny, little moon. Though, that silvery moon of my childhood has taken a refuge in the solitary darkness of the sky. I believe it is scared by what is happening in its world of paradise. The moon could not bear to look down and see the plight of its admirer .It could not bear to see Humanity losing out to Hatred and Atrocity. It could not bear to see that children who instead of playing with dolls and listening to fairytales are playing with weapons of mass destruction. It was morbid to see that Religion which is but a way to worship the Divine, to thank the Almighty has become the most prevalent reason for the mayhem and bloodshed engulfing the world. I sometimes feel that even God/Allah/Almighty despises the human race for its mortal ignorance and is waiting with bated breaths for the Judgment day to come.

The whistleblower

There he lies unwithered
The cold tar his bed
And his blood gushing out through his head

He was walking on his way back home
When he was shot
Two shots silenced that 'indomitable soul'

The mob watched him with their silence
Promptly in place
Mute and unperturbed they saw what they did to him
For they knew that he was a martyr in vain

Soon there will be another corpse like his
Lying defeated on the streets
For he will be a 'cold-blooded' whistleblower
